The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) on July 10, 2025, notified the Draft Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Particulars and Manner of their Display on Labels) Repeal Regulations, 2025.

These draft regulations aim to repeal all existing regulations that specify the particulars and manner of display on labels for a wide range of appliances.

The comprehensive list of 13 regulations slated for repeal includes those concerning refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners (room, chillers, light commercial), various types of televisions (UHD, color), distribution transformers, water heaters, and different lighting products (fluorescent lamps, LED lamps), deep freezers, and ceiling fans.

The draft regulations have been published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, to invite suggestions and objections from the public. Interested persons have a period of thirty days from the date of publication to submit their feedback via post or email to the Director-General of BEE. Upon finalization and publication in the Official Gazette, these new regulations will come into force, repealing the specified existing ones. A savings clause is included to ensure that the repeal does not affect existing rights, obligations, or legal proceedings.
